The OKC Boathouse Foundation believes the Oklahoma River has the power to change lives –
and help Oklahoma City become a stronger, healthier community. In just a few short years, Foundation supporters have seen their vision come to life as people of all ages, from all parts of the city, have become involved in rowing, kayaking, dragon boating, running and cycling on the Oklahoma River.
National and international racing events and festivals including the 2008 USA Canoe/Kayak Olympic Trials for Flatwater Sprint , the international 2007 Rowing World Challenge and the annual OCU Head of the Oklahoma have garnered national and international media attention. Today, our city is becoming known for our river and our river sports. With the addition of three new boathouses, including the Devon OCU Boathouse and the Chesapeake Finish Line tower, both now under construction, we will soon be known for an iconic row of boathouses and racing venue unparalleled in the world.
The vision began with construction of the Chesapeake Boathouse in 2006 and has since been powered by a group of corporate sponsors led by our POWER 10 Partners.

In rowing, the term "power 10" calls for each member of the crew to give 10 of their most powerful strokes to build momentum and propel the shell forward. Oklahoma City's POWER 10 Partners are providing this same momentum to the projects on the Oklahoma River. Funding for our nationally and internationally recognized events, seed money for master plan development, and significant investment in new boathouses and the finish line tower are all propelling the Oklahoma River toward becoming one of the world's premier urban aquatic venues.
For the citizens of Oklahoma City, the dividends are immeasurable. Economic development, a significant increase in tourism, and a new image for Oklahoma City promise to have a transformational effect on our city.
The possibilities have only begun to be realized as we continue to welcome new partners into this powerful effort to propel Oklahoma City into a new era.

A POWERFUL VISION
The idea for a community boathouse on the Oklahoma River
began as a grassroots effort among a group of rowers from the Oklahoma
Association for Rowing. Their efforts caught the attention of visionaries
Aubrey McClendon, Clayton I. Bennett and Lee Allan Smith who saw the potential
for rowing to bring a whole new level of enthusiasm to the Oklahoma River
and downtown Oklahoma City. Today, thanks to their efforts, the Chesapeake
Boathouse enjoys support of business and civic leaders across the community.
We hope you will join us in thanking the following donors whose generosity
is evident in the facilities, equipment and array of programs now being
offered at the Chesapeake Boathouse.
